1.) the element that gives the voices extra electricity is that they are all singing to their full potential. the singers have confidence in themselves and sing loud and clear.
ReplyDelete2.) to me the second video sounds the most moving because i know the religious background to it and i can feel the emotions as they sing their music
3.)These piece3s would be different because they wouldnt show the same electricty if they didnt have the vocal talenst that they display throughout the music. the song would simply not be as good.
4.)this relates to us because these choral groups produce such a powerful sound which makes them sound more experienced and confident. we need to do this so we can sound as good as we can.
1) The music alone is good and it tells that there are some points happening, but it doesn’t have as much impact as far as rising intensity is concerned. With the voices added to the music, it isn’t just some scene with some crucial facts. It can become a climax, a small stage to the climax, or one of the most crucial parts of the story but the only way to know this without the creators saying where they are is the song that plays during that crucial scene but to make it seem more intense than any other moment, strong voices would be needed to raise the intensity of tat moment because the louder and stronger the voices are in that moment, the more understandable it is to know that crucial moment.
ReplyDelete2) “Bearing the Cross” seemed the strongest because I can see the crowds gathered on the streets all the way to the mountain of the skull where he will be crucified and I can see the intensity, the pain and suffering being inflicted on Jesus as he carries the cross. “Bearing the Cross” was moving because I can see the wounds and blood dripping from both Jesus and Samuel. It’s so moving because I can feel the jeers of the crowd and I can imagine myself in the intense, hot atmosphere as sweat and blood become one on their bodies and I can’t do anything to stop it and I just feel like crying for them, not knowing that he is suffering for me.
3) It just wouldn’t be as moving or intensifying without the vocals. The music is used to stir up the human soul while the voice shouts out to the soul, almost as if it’s describing the tale in its own way to us. It’s talking to us about the feelings of the situation and the reality of the situation which is one man is bearing a load greater than any other man could carry and he’s carrying it all on his own even though it’s the people he’s trying to save that are bringing him down but no matter what, he keeps moving with that cross of sins.
4) Singing can be impacting and intense but only if we try to put our all into it. It doesn’t have to be rough or soft but it has to be understood in order for it to be intense. What makes vocals sound good are those feelings put into the music that comes out of our mouths. If those feelings aren’t there, then it’s just singing for the sake of just singing. We should sing as if the situation was right in front of us and we had no choice but to sing it out because it’s too intense to describe in words.
the voices added to the music gives the music a little more dramatic affect, like for "The Black Rider" I dont think that the music really helps to give more intensity to the scene unless you can actually see the scene personally so you can see how the music relates to it. The " Bearing of the Cross" shows more intensity, because you can picture the anguish in the carrying the cross of Christ, because of the countless times we've heard the story of what he had to go through to forgive our sins.the " With Great Power" would have to be the most moving one, because I can actually picture hearing this song on a movie preview or a very very crucial point in a movie, All of the peices would be more bland and less electricfying if there was not voices and we would be able to feel the music or depict the music as we should. This relates to us as a mens chorus, because the more louder we get and as we make the singing stronger we will make the compositions of music that were singing to sound twice as better and we will just overall sound really, really good.

ReplyDelete1)The reason the voices in the groups sound so good is because all the voices flow well together to make one complete and powerful sound. They all sing really loud and full.
ReplyDelete2)The Bearing the Cross piece is the most powerful I thought because of the powerful music that goes with the full voices along with the side voice that sounds very good.
3)Without the voices the music would lose an essential part of the power in each piece. The singing makes the piece better overal and makes the sound more dramatic so that the listeners can connect more with what the theme of the music is.
4)We can use this to better are sound to drive us to sing louder and fuller which will make our sound more powerful.
1. The voices gives more to the song because in each one of them, they are all making the music darker. Without the voices, the music could sound up beat, but the voices show the situation for what they are. They all start soft then magnify with each note.

3. The pieces without the music sounded kind of uplifting to me so the vocals brought out what needed to be in there to understand the situation.
4. These pieces all heve blended voices which if we could learn how to do that, we would be a really good chourus.

ReplyDelete2) "Black Rider" is the most moving and most powerful. The vocals in the piece perfectly match the sound of the drums and trumpets, giving coherence and additional power to absorb the listener. Also, they perfectly cause the fallen glory, power, and terror of the Nazgul to come to life. It allows the scene in the movie to tell a story without using dialogue.
3) Without the vocals, these pieces would not convey the same themes. The vocals literally give voice to the themes of each piece.
4) Powerful singing is what allows us to grab the audience's attention, keep it, and to move them by purifying the words and music in a way that facilitates the transfer of emotion.
1.) The voices seem to flow, this is due to technique and confidence. The sound is very full and very powerful with the voices.

ReplyDelete2. The most powerful and moving one was the third one. The vocals added so much to the piece. The music by itself was powerful. But with the vocals it made it even more powerful.
3. In most cases the vocals give the piece its power and meaning. It wouldn't have the same effect if the vocals were not there.
4. We need to learn to be able to put as much power and confidence into the music just as these people have done.
1) I think that adding voice to music makes it better majority of the time. It helps set the mood and explain the song better.
ReplyDelete2) I like the 2nd one the most out of the three. I like it because first off the movie is great, and I think its really interesting in a way. It kinda gets me pumped up. It explains how and what Jesus is going through in a way as well.
3) Like I said earlier, vocals always add to the song. I preferably think that vocals make the song better.
4) Like in Tollite-Hostias on the repeat of the first verse when we sing softer, we don't have to be quieter its just in a softer tone.

ReplyDelete2)The Bearing of the Cross was the most powerful to me, not only because of the literal ties, but the metaphorical roots that dwell in everyone of us.
3) The pieces would lose the raw human nature of that is ever-present in the emphatic voices. The human voice to a listener is the great musical bridge that connects to the human senses to the complexity of the music.
4)The directly connects us to (one) emotion and (two) technique: to emit a strong, powerful sound you must feel the music that you are performing along with using the correct techniques.
1) Each piece is ridden with emotion and power. THe voices in the Lord of the Rings piece really light up the intensity of the moment. The drums in the passion piece are immediate and give you the sense of impending danger. And in the "With Great Power" piece the voices again ignite the air with crisp, ringing soprano and unforgiving tenor and bass. The strings and orchestra increase the feeling of suspense and intensity.
ReplyDelete2) The second seemed the most powerful to me. The voices really echoed the sorrow and horror of the moment. I felt as if I were climbing up to golgotha from the bottom of the hill. The voices soared higher and higher and the drums picked up. It was riveting.
3) Without the vocals, these pieces would still sound dangerous, but the voices really put the emotion into the piece. They fuel the anger or the suspense or the intensity of the piece. THe orchestra is wonderful, but the voices really enhance what the music is trying to convey.
4) As it pertains to men's chorus, these voices are all extremely powerful and don't hold back. I think we can take that into account when we sing, because often our pieces aren't as powerful as they are written. Most of the chords could really be enhanced and each individual note could mean so much more if we put more behind it.

ReplyDelete2)The most powerfull and moving peice to me is the second because of how much of a difference it makes. It really makes you feel sad and how you should feel in that moment.
3) If the vocals were taken out they would lose the intensity of the composition. You wouldnt feel anything when you listened to it like you do now.
4) In mens chorus, we need to sing with a powerful sound and put everything into. Even when we are singing softer peices we need to put the focus into making a pretty sound, or hitting our pitches.

I think the sould still be good but not as good.
The bass sound helps carry the song to a new level, I would love if we could hit a 10th of this sound.

ReplyDelete2. the most poerful is the black rider one. i could see and feel the evil within the riders. all the different deep voices seemed very ominous. the most moving was the bearing of the cross. i could see what jesus was goining through and that is always moving.
3. these wouldnt be anything without the vocal arrangments with them. they would be very flat. the music is good but without the voices carying them allong it would not be as moving.
4. this all comes back to confidence and focus. we have to be able to sing with what we have and truly know what we are singing and know the cords are right.

1) i think it is the power and the ability for the voices to be able to start and stop on a dime. and it is not that they just start and stop on a dime, they start and stop with such great energy and power.
ReplyDelete2)the first one seems the most powerful. not at first but once it really gets deep i dont know what it is but it send a chill through my body like i can feel it. and they most moving would be the second one. you can just tell it is a moving peace filled with sorrow and pain.
3)The voices give the pieces the extra power needed to make them really good. instuments can not put emphasis on a piece of music like a voice can and they really complete all three of these muscical pieces.
4)you can really tell they are singing in front of themselves and pulling out the energy like you have taught us to always do when singing in this successful program. we can use them as an example of power and energy and strive to all as a group and individual sing better.

I also think it was the most powerfull because the vocals had a bigger more noticable part in the song, in this one most people would be listening to the vocals instead of only focasing on the music as i found myself doing on the other songs, it was short but strong and would drive home any piont it would need to make.
3. Like i said earlier, if the vocals were not there i do not think the pieces would have been nearly as strong, music alone can not put a piont across like that in the same way vocals alnoe could not do it, well it connects because we as a choir cannot let the instrumental part of our sings overtake our voices
1. The voices out people into the story line of the song, which gives the song more meaning. The voices are very intense and give it a sound of battle.

1. It helps to paint the picture better. The music takes you on a ride and the voices only add to the feel. The tone gives you a sense of what to feel as far as emotion.
ReplyDelete2. Bearing of the cross is my choice for both. Because the song is telling the story of our lord and savior jesus and his journey. Words cannot express accurately how it feels to think about His passion. The fact that he knew from birth he was going to die for us means the world to me.
3. Without the voices you could not accurately tell the emotion you are suppose to feel. The voices portray pain, angusish, joy and a wide array of emotions.
4. We should pack all we have into every performance we have. We need to look at it as though its our last everytime. The sounds that the voices have in these works a very significant purpose. They tell stories.
